 Statement of Intent

Product 1:

My music video will rely heavily on mise-en-scene as it contains a messy bedroom connoting the idea that the protagonist has given up caring and the mess also acts as a metaphor for the protagonist's unstable and 'all over the place'. The editing also plays a large part as the VHS static adds to the idea of it being an insight of a someone struggling with mental health, the fake gun and ending also represents and links to the statistic at the start of the music video highlighting the threat of suicide. The video also appears to be in a loop, thus illustrating the seemingly endless cycle of suffering.

The music video also draws on some conventions from artists associated and signed with Warner Music Group. The use of the artist in the video, but not necessarily in a performance type music video, mimics the style of videos used by Hayley Kiyoko, especially in the 'What I Need' music video.

The targeted audience in the age group of 16-25. This is conveyed through the use of the young protagonist and the topic being addressed, that of mental health and the awareness needed to be brought to it.

The representation will be that of a younger demographic, the working class as they cannot afford the mental health care that seems to be a luxury within society due to the costs.
