 My initial brief for the Music Video Task.

Age: 27

Hometown:  Northampton

Protest Theme: Stigma against men's mental health

I have chosen these aspects of my character due to:

Name 'John Doe' connotes unidentified, dead, and the pain and trauma that he has been subjected to during his life. The age of 27 implies that he has life experience, it is not just a few years of injustice that he has been the victim of but all his life, with Northampton being his hometown, presents himself as from humble beginnings and how he has been brought up the hard way. Due to his childhood of abuse from those he held dear, without being able to express his true emotions, the type of music produced is rebelling against and fighting for the stigma of men's 'grow some' attitude to end, and prove that it is alright for men to express and have feelings of anxiety and depression without being ridiculed for it.

These themes appear in both songs. Using these themes and dark undertones, I plan on using a b/w filter over the protagonist of the video, with the rest of the frame being in full colour, to connote how dull the character feels, while the world carries on around him. With people criticising him due to him being different. This could also add another layer of depth to the idea of racism and prejudice.
